Wells suffered a knee injury against the Steelers, and would be up against another tough run defense this week against Baltimore anyway. Alfonso Smith would get the start if Beanie does in fact sit out.
On the bright side, Wells appears optimistic enough that it's possible he'll play in week 9, when the Cardinals face the Rams. St. Louis has allowed nearly six yards per carry to opposing running backs so far this season.
